A poem by Cristin Cooper

I see you light.
Welcome relief
in the course of winter.

I see you neighbors.
Faces whose names
I still do not know.

I see you banana bread.
Uneaten by Brandon,
lying dormant on the counter.

I see you God.
Your grace
extending.

I pick up the bread,
and tie
my laces.

If anyone asks,
it’s the light
that drew me.
